From the days of the apostles, the Church has grown as ordinary disciples have gone, gathered, preached, prayed, served, and planted new worshipping communities.
At St Peter & St Paul, Fareham, we want to walk in those same footsteps.
This is an opportunity to be part of planting a new contemporary worshipping community in the heart of Fareham, while also honouring and growing the existing traditional congregation. It is a chance to help build something from the beginning: praying, imagining, serving, testing, learning, gathering people, making disciples, and seeing what God will do.
The vision is bigger than one new service. We are praying for a renewed church that can reach new people, strengthen existing believers, raise new leaders, and in time help plant new churches and worshipping communities in other places.
This is hands-on church planting.
You will be stepping into the early stage of a church plant. That means prayer, ideas, experiments, conversations, set-up, Alpha, worship, teams, outreach, discipleship, mistakes, learning, and trying again.
It is a little bit like the energy of a start-up, but for the sake of the gospel.

No. You need a love for Jesus, a willingness to learn, and a heart to serve. Some people may come with ministry experience, while others may be taking their first serious step. Church planting is learned through prayer, service, reflection, mentoring and real involvement in the life of the church.

You can express interest at any time. This opportunity does not only begin in September or follow a fixed academic year. Because the church plant is developing now, people can join at different points in the year. If it seems like a good fit, we will agree a start date together.

This can be flexible. Some people may be able to give one day a week, while others may be able to offer more. The most important thing is consistency. We will agree a pattern that fits your availability, the needs of the church plant, and the kind of ministry experience you are hoping to gain.

This is primarily a voluntary church planting and ministry development opportunity. In some cases, there may be specific roles, expenses, placements or funding conversations, depending on the person and the needs of the church. We will always be clear about expectations before anything begins.

Yes. This is a practical church planting opportunity with training built around it. You will have opportunities for mentoring, prayer, feedback and reflection. The aim is to help you grow in your walk with Jesus, understand your gifts, develop practical ministry skills, and discern what God may be calling you into next.

Depending on your gifts and availability, you could be involved in Sunday worship, Alpha, prayer gatherings, youth and children’s ministry, worship, hospitality, small groups, community outreach, media, operations, social action, or helping launch new ministries. You will not be expected to do everything. We want people to serve meaningfully and grow wisely.

No. It may be helpful for someone exploring ordination, but it is much broader than that. This opportunity is also for people exploring lay leadership, church planting, youth work, children’s ministry, worship, evangelism, operations, pastoral ministry, or simply a deeper life of discipleship and service.

No. We especially want to raise up younger leaders, but church planting needs people of different ages, gifts and experiences. The main question is whether you are teachable, prayerful, faithful, willing to serve, and excited by the opportunity to help plant a new worshipping community.

Yes, as appropriate. Responsibility will grow with trust, maturity and faithfulness. You may begin by serving alongside others, then gradually take on more as your confidence and competence grow. The aim is to develop people who can serve, lead, disciple others, and help build the Church.
